Subject:Barney Rae 55 Squadron Victors

Hi all
Hope you can help.
My late father Barney Rae( wife Helen, Ian, twins - Stuart and Graham) was in 55 squadron on Victors 64-68 Honington and Marham as C/T then FS in Singapore 68 - 71. RAF records I have are not very detailed with little information. Would anyone have any old pictures, information or stories for that period? Other names I can recall during that period are Sandy Saunders, Les Boon, ?? Lawrence, Joe Goebels.
Please do get in touch, appreciate any information or any websites you can provide.

Subject:wp222 crash

In 1955/56 Iwas a national service airman at RAF Gaydon 138,543sq.and232OCU I carried out mods on four aircraft after the crash of WP222.tHE MODS WERE ON THE ELEVATORS. I fitted an additional Burgess micro switch to each elevator trim to limit the travel, my crew chief(Ch Tec Edwards) told me this over travel of the tab caused the crash.Though it was nealy sixty years ago I remember running the wires from the elevators to the front of the aircraft.
I was rewarded with a sventy two hour pass and a meeting the AOC. I had never seen such a high ranking officer before and when I told him I was national service I had the feeling I was the first National Service Airman he had met.

Subject:signed prints

A few of you Gentlemen will know me more as the man whom stands in the signing in tent collecting your signature's on various prints.
Following the last re-union I then raffled off the print at the Newark Air Museum Cockpit Fest, raisng £75 which was donated to the museum and also 617 Squadron Association. The print gained a lot of interest and copies of previous prints I've also produced were also raffle prices.
This year I am also planning to achieve the same thing and will be at the re-union as previous. I have already managed to get the prints signed by Les Munro, George Johnny Johnson and Benny Goodman.
This year I will be donating the print to the Vulcan Trust to raise funds.
I was also asked a few time last time by the Victor Gentlemen (I am struggling with the Valiant - but hopefully next time) if I had any prints for them to sign. I paid a visit to York Air Musceum recently and hope to be able to have a print of their Victor as well.

Can I ask for and thank all the V-force Re-unuion crews/gentlemen for their help last time and future support. I look forward to meeting you all again next weekend.

Kind regards

Garaeth Cooke

Subject:Anyone from Derby / Derbyshire

Hi there V-Force veterans, I have been working on the publicity for the event with the Reunion Team and I have a media enquiry from Derby / Derbyshire.

The Derby Telegraph would like to make contact with a V-Force veteran from their patch - is there anyone out there who is willing to speak with them?

Please drop me an email if you are!
